Textiles have played a large part in world trade, land ownership, human labour, and natural resources. The resulting conflicts and alliances have shaped contemporary culture, politics and economies. The surface, structure and colour of a textile can be a means for storytelling and relaying history. Through the manipulation of these elements and processes of weaving and collage the work becomes a window into what lies beyond. My works explore these relationships through combining natural dyes with printing and painting.
